Weill Cornell Medicine: Taylor’s Story

Taylor Rhodes was an all-American kid from an all-American family. He was handsome, funny and kind. A great athlete. Truly the boy next door. At 14, Taylor was prescribed Percocet for a tennis injury and it opened a door he never expected to walk through. Taylor was just 20-years-old when he passed away from a co-occurring substance use disorder and mental illness.

I was approached by Weill Cornell Medicine to capture and share Taylor’s story. Filming just six months after Taylor passed away, I knew this piece would be challenging. It would be raw. It would be urgent. And it shows. I’m grateful to the Rhodes family for opening their hearts and home to me. I hope this film will continue to change the conversation around substance use disorders and help break the stigma of addiction.
